Advent Day #14
Tea #14 - “Mint Toffee”
My partner-in-crime on this tea blog teaches me a lot every
day and being that she swapped me this day for another, I learned she is not a
mint person. I must say, the combo of mint and toffee intrigues me. Seems like
a bit of an odd combination, doesn’t it? Well, the tea bag smells divine, so I
can only hope the infusion inside tastes as good as it smells! If I’m being
honest, it looks like a bag of oregano. According to Fortnum & Mason, it is
a blend of peppermint, spearmint, liquorice root and toffee flavouring. We know
how I feel about those “flavourings” (ha, ha!) It smells like sweet mint as it
brews. If you enjoy our pictures, you may notice the cup I am sipping out of
today . . . yes, I am a huge soccer fan, especially after the countless hours I
have spent toting my children to their practices and games for 12 years. As a
family, we LOVE the EPL, although we support different teams. My team is
undoubtedly Liverpool, or as I lovingly call them, “my Reds.” And Virgil van
Dijk of the Netherlands is my favorite player. You didn’t expect to read about
soccer in a tea blog, did you? But back to this infusion. Describing the taste
is challenging. It is certainly minty but reasonably subtle with an underlying
sweet toffee tone. I expected it to be bad (as my last infusion was not the
best), and it just wasn’t. Not sure I would search for it in the cabinet, but I
kind of enjoyed the uniqueness of it. It was rather refreshing. 7/10
