Advent Day #15
Tea #15 – “Breakfast Blend”
I am a breakfast kind of girl in every way. It’s my favorite
meal of the day, I often serve it for dinner, and I tend to love teas with
breakfast in the name, so I was excited to try this one! Fortnum & Mason
billed it as a “malty brew” which makes me chuckle a bit because that reminds
me of beer which is not my favorite by any stretch. This tea is, in fact, an
Assam hailing from the Brahmaputra Valley, and the tea growing there benefits
from being in the flood plains. It appeared dark and fine in the bag with
broken leaves. The scent was reminiscent of a traditional English breakfast
tea, and when it was brewing, it was very dark in the cup. I, unfortunately,
did not have any milk to add, but I would like to try it again with milk even
though I enjoyed it black. It was smooth and simple, and I feel like this is a
versatile tea to stock your pantry and serve to guests in your home. I am
guessing it would taste good with sugar and milk as well, and it is recommended
to serve it with milk. 8/10
Side note: (see picture below) If you are ever in Virginia, consider visiting The Sugar Tree Inn! I got engaged there many years ago, and it is a lovely mountain retreat!
