Advent Day #5
Tea #5 - “Earl Grey Classic”
This tea was crafted by Fortnum & Mason 104 years ago, although
it was named after Earl Grey who was appointed Prime Minister 72 years earlier.
It is delicious! For those who are newer to the tea world, Earl Grey tea is a
blend of three popular black teas - Darjeeling and Assam from India and Ceylon,
from Sri Lanka, which was called Ceylon when it was a British colony. Generally,
bergamot peel is added, but citrus is another option, and Fortnum & Mason
chooses the latter in this blend. I would recommend keeping this one in your
cabinet for everyday sipping. It needed no additions, and I feel like “classic”
is truly a perfect moniker for this one, as it should continue to be served for
ages to come! 9/10
